2023 New BOD Announcement

Last month, the Chandler Compadres announced a $1 million grant for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s (BGCAZ) Chandler Compadres Branch as part of its 2023-2024 grant cycle. The grant will allow BGCAZ to address transportation challenges in Chandler by outsourcing afterschool transit to private charter companies. As schools struggle to find commercially licensed drivers for school buses and families face limited transportation options, this innovative solution enables BGCAZ to bring almost 250 kids per day to its Chandler Compadres Branch from six different Chandler schools.

Governor Hobbs Expands Child Care Options for Arizona Families

Governor Katie Hobbs is taking action to ensure that more children in Arizona have access to affordable, quality child care and school-age programming. First, Governor Hobbs will offer more access and flexibility to families with school-age children (ages 5-12). The Governor has instructed the Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Department of Economic Security (DES) to broaden the types of afterschool, summer, and enrichment programs eligible for licensure by creating a separate child care license for “out-of-school time” programs. This will streamline the process for these programs to accept child care assistance by meeting the high quality standards in the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF THE VALLEY LAUNCHES LARGE-SCALE ESPORTS PROGRAM IN CLUBS

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley has introduced a comprehensive esports program in its Clubs focused on helping youth and teens develop valuable skills and make healthy choices while playing video games. Like all Club programs, this esports program will help kids “Play with a Purpose.”

REALTORS Host Supply Drive and Education Event to Benefit Local Children

The 2023 WeSERV Leadership Class has launched a month-long campaign to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley (BGCAZ). The “WeSERV with Sole” initiative focuses on helping people “get on solid footing” by soliciting footwear donations for kids while providing housing-related education for all.

Arizona PBS: Benefits of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley

A new report shows the many benefits of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley. The economic and social impact report just compiled by the L. William Seidman Research Institute at Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business also found that for every dollar the Clubs invested in operational and capital expenses from 2020-2021, the Clubs delivered $15.60 in benefits to youth and families in Maricopa County.
